Moore’s Perfect 10 On Floor Powers No. 13 Gymnastics To Season-Best 197.600 At Illinois Quad

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Junior Jocelyn Moore became the first Missouri gymnast to score a perfect 10 on floor as No. 13 University of Missouri gymnastics scored a season-best 197.600 to take first at the Illinois Quad meet on Sunday afternoon inside Huff Hall. The Tigers bested Illinois (197.275), No. 21 Arizona (196.875) and SEMO (192.700).

In the last regular season meet of the season, the Tigers set three records en route to tying the fourth-best team score in program history. Moore earned a perfect 10 on floor, previously hitting 9.975 three times in her career, including twice this season. Combined with her 10 on vault last season against Auburn, the Hillsborough, New Jersey, native became the first Missouri gymnast to record perfect scores on multiple events in program history.

The Tigers also set program-best marks as a team on two different apparatuses. Powered by Moore’s perfection, MU produced a team-record 49.700 on floor. Leading up to her anchor routine, four other Tigers hit 9.9 routines to break the previous record set at the Mizzou Quad in 2022.

On vault, Missouri ended the meet by scoring the program vault record with a 49.500 performance. Three Tigers surpassed the 9.9 threshold on the event for the first time this season and emphatic 9.950s from Moore and junior Amari Celestine helped the team hit the 49.5 mark for the first time in program history.

Moore claimed the floor title, while she and Celestine shared the vault title. Graduate student Sienna Schreiber earned the all-around crown, parlaying four 9.85 or higher routines into a 39.525 all-around mark.

The Tigers close out the 2024 regular season with a 13-6 overall record and will compete in the afternoon session of the SEC Championship next weekend in New Orleans.

FIRST ROTATION

The Tigers opened their last regular season meet with a 49.250 standing on bars. All six Tigers scored higher than a 9.8, with Schreiber and senior Amaya Marshall each producing 9.850 routines. Senior Mara Titarsolej rounded out the bunch with a team-best 9.900 in the anchor position. 

SECOND ROTATION

The Tigers notched a 49.150 team score on the back of a strong back half of the rotation. In the fourth spot, Sydney Schaffer scored a 9.900 for her first 9.9 on any apparatus since 2022. Celestine picked up a 9.850 in the fifth spot, while Schreiber closed out the rotation with her fifth consecutive 9.9 on beam.

THIRD ROTATION

The program-record 49.700 floor rotation started with a bang, as Schreiber opened the rotation with a 9.925, her third consecutive 9.9 on the apparatus. Senior Alonna Kratzer followed with a 9.900 which tied their career best, followed by a returning freshman, Hannah Horton, who produced a career-high 9.950 on floor. 

Freshman Kennedy Griffin maintained her run of floor dominance, cracking 9.9 on the apparatus for the fifth consecutive meet with a 9.925 in the fifth spot, which set up Moore for her perfect 10. As the regular season comes to a close, the Tigers have surpassed 49.3 in all 11 meets so far, and with their record-breaking performance, MU’s streak of 49.3 performances now stands at 18, the longest streak in the SEC.

FOURTH ROTATION 

The Tigers saw their most consistent lineup of the season on vault to earn the program-record score of 49.500 in the final rotation. All six gymnasts scored at least a 9.850, and for the first time this season, three Missouri gymnasts hit a 9.9 or higher on the apparatus in the same meet.

Schreiber and junior Grace Anne Davis both started off the fourth rotation with a 9.850. Senior Kyra Burns made her first lineup of the season and made the most of her opportunity, posting a career-best 9.900 with her Yurchenko full. Griffin followed with a 9.850 of her own to set up Celestine and Moore, whose Yurchenko 1 and ½ vaults each yielded a 9.950.

• Moore extended her 9.9 floor streak to 14 consecutive meets dating back to the 2023 SEC Championship.
• Thanks to Moore’s perfect 10 plus four other 9.9 routines, the Tigers shattered the program floor record with a 49.700 rotation. The team surpassed the previous mark of 49.650, which was set at the Mizzou Quad on March 12, 2022.
• MU tied its vault record with a 49.500, equaling a score set at the 2022 Mizzou Quad and the 2023 NCAA Regional Second Round.
• The Tigers tied their season-best mark of 11 9.9 routines, matching a mark set at the Mizzou Quad last Sunday.
