Woman’s Golf on the Road Again for MountainView Collegiate

University of Missouri women’s golf travels to Tucson, Arizona, to compete in the MountainView Collegiate on March 15 through 17.

TOURNAMENT INFO
The MountainView Collegiate is a three-day tournament, playing 18 holes each of the three days for a total of 54 holes with tee times on Friday and Saturday, and a shotgun start at 9:45 a.m. CT on Sunday for finals. 

COURSE OVERVIEW
The Preserve Golf Club is a par-72 course that plays 6,345 yards long in Tucson, Arizona.

A LOOK AT THE COMPETITION
The tournament field includes 15 schools with 81 players. Playing alongside the Tigers are No.6 Arkansas, No.17 Texas A&M, No.33 Houston, No.38 Tennessee, No.42 USF, No.44 Tulsa, defending champions No.47 Iowa State, Arkansas St., Minnesota, Oklahoma, Southern Miss, TCU, UNLV and Kansas State. 

2023 MOUNTAINVIEW RECAP
Last season at the MountainView Collegiate, the Tigers placed 14th as a team in the 17-team field. Jade Zamora led Mizzou by placing 41st overall with a three-round score of even-par 216.

LAST TIME OUT
The Tigers come straight off the Tulane classic with an individual win and third-place finish with a team score of 885 (+21). The freshman, Fleur van Beek tallied three birdies during the third round to finish two strokes ahead of Notre Dame’s Lauren Beaudrea in second place. Three other Tigers finished in the top 20, Addie Dobson (T-11th), Ffion Tynan (T-18th), and Emily Staples (T-18th).

FRESHMAN ON TOP
Freshman Fleur van Beek claimed her first career title on Tuesday afternoon after tallying a one-under 71 on all three days to finish three-under (213). This marked the first time a Mizzou freshman has claimed individual medalist at a tournament since Amelia Moses at the Jeannine McHaney Invitational in 1997. 

SEC HONORS
Following her performance this past week, van Beek added SEC Freshman of the Week honors on Thursday. She is the first Mizzou freshman to collect the accolade since Emma Allen did so in 2016.
