Flaquer Named MVC Player of the Week

ST. LOUIS – Missouri State tennis’ Cristina Flaquer has been named Missouri Valley Conference Singles Player of the Week, the league announced Wednesday (Feb. 28).
 
Last weekend, Flaquer played a crucial role in the Bears’ back-to-back wins over ULM and SEMO. The Barcelona native dropped her first set against ULM’s Alice Klinteby at No. 1, before battling back to take the second and third sets 6-3, and secure the winning point for MoState.
 
In the Bears’ second match of the weekend, Flaquer scored the first point of the match for Missouri State with another win at No. 1. She defeated SEMO’s Cosima Trinity Calinescu 6-4, 6-3 to improve to 5-3 in singles.
 
The Tennis Bears will hit the road tomorrow (Feb. 29) to play Southwest Baptist at 2:00 p.m. in Bolivar, Mo.
