SPRINGFIELD — Missouri State University Director of Athletics Kyle Moats announced today that Kennedy Wingbermuehle (WING-bur-mule-ee) has been named as the inaugural head coach for the university’s new STUNT team, which will debut during the 2024-25 academic year.

She is currently the head coach at Central Methodist University in Fayette, Mo., where her team is preparing for its spring campaign. She made her debut with the Eagles last season and quickly established the CMU program with victories over Buena Vista and Fontbonne in her inaugural season.

A product of Oklahoma State University, Wingbermuehle was also a captain on the OSU cheer team and was part of the 2021 NCA National Championship Team in the large coed division. She earned her degree in Business Administration from Oklahoma State in 2021.

Wingbermuehle also has experience as an admissions counselor at CMU and has also served as the university’s cheer team head coach since August of 2022.

She is originally from Imperial, Mo., and attended Seckman High School. She also cheered competitively for Pride of Illinois.

Her hire is contingent upon final approval by the Missouri State University Board of Governors with an expected start date of May 1, 2024.
