Seven Tigers Claim Program Top-10 Marks On First Day Of SEC Indoor Championships

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The University of Missouri track and field team opened the SEC Indoor Track and Field Championships with seven program top-10 marks and a pair of Tigers punching their ticket to the finals of their respective events.

Alicia Burnett qualified for the women’s 60-meter final after finishing seventh overall with a time of 7.23 in preliminaries. She was .02 seconds off her personal and program-best mark set three weeks ago at the DeLoss Dodds Invitational in Manhattan, Kan.

Kelsey Schweizer earned a spot in the women’s 800-meter final after placing second in heat one. She claimed the final automatic qualifying spot via a pass on the homestretch. Her time of 2:05.83 elevated her to a top-five position on the Mizzou all-time indoor list.

Mitch Weber notched a fifth-place finish in the men’s weight throw, setting a personal best mark of 21.68m (71-1.5). His toss moved him to fourth on Mizzou’s indoor all-time list.

Jenna Schwartz clocked a 16:25.20 in the women’s 5,000-meter, the fourth-best mark in program history.

Distance runners Eddie Zuercher and Declan Tunney also set program top-10 marks as their men’s 5,000-meter times of 14:18.00 and 14:29.35 rank seventh and eighth in program history, respectively.

The women’s distance medley squad of Brianna Lee, Nicole Louw, Kelsey Schweizer and Anneken Viljoen rounded out the day by setting the ninth-fastest time in program history, clocking in at 11:27.28 in the team’s debut outing.
