Both Panthers teams win duals against Oklahoma Christian

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— The Drury men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams both picked up wins against Oklahoma Christian in a two-day dual at the Breech Pool in Springfield this weekend. The Drury men’s team, ranked second in NCAA-II, defeated 13th ranked Oklahoma Christian 208-106, and the DU women’s squad, also ranked number two in Division II, took down 21st ranked OCU, 192-103.

Men’s highlights

  • The Drury men’s team opened the second day of competition with a win in the 200 Medley Relay. Viktor Khnykin, Davi Mourao, Alejandro Villarejo, and Yuri Cabral won with a time of 1:28.05
  • Viktor Khnykin took first place in the 200 Back, posting a time of 1:47.03
  • Yuri Cabral won the 200 Free with a time of 1:39.61
  • Alejandro Villarejo earned a win in the 100 Fly (47.86)
  • Ivan Adamchuk gave Drury a first place finish in the 400 Individual Medley with a time of 4:01.10
  • Drury capped the event with a win in the 400 Free Relay as Khynkin, Matteo Vissotto, Lucas Mineur, and Cabral combined for a time of 3:01.96

Women’s highlights

  • The Panthers opened Saturday’s competition with a win the 200 Medley Relay as Julie Berger, Claire Conover, Mariana Alencar, and Kasia Rogowska posted a winning time of 1:44.61.
  • Mellie Wijk won the 50 Free (23.65), and she returned to win the 200 Free by more than eight seconds, finishing with a first place time of 1:50.03
  • Anastasiia Yermishyna won the 100 Fly posting a time of 56.59
  • Claire Conover earned a win in the 100 Breaststroke getting to the wall in 1:03.44
  • The Panthers finished the dual by winning the 400 Free Relay by more than six seconds as Ellie Walker, Yermishyna, Alencar, and Wijk teamed up for a time of 3:27.47.

Both Drury teams compete again in the Great Lakes Valley Conference championships Feb. 6-10 in Evansville, Indiana.
