Both Drury teams lead Oklahoma Christian after first day of dual

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— The Drury men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams have leads on Oklahoma Christian after the first day of competition in duals at the Breech Pool on the DU campus on Friday. The Drury men’s team, ranked second in NCAA-II, holds a 102-46 lead on 13th ranked Oklahoma Chrisitan. The DU women’s squad, also ranked number two in Division II, is up 88-53 on an Oklahoma Christian team ranked 21st nationally.
Women’s highlights

  • Drury won the 400 Medley Relay as Isa Sonnergren, Alyssa Freimanis, Mariana Alencar, and Ellie Walker combined for a time of 3:52.11
  • Mellie Wijk dominated the 200 Breaststroke, winning by more than seven seconds and posting a time of 2:14.34
  • Ellie Walker won the 100 Free with a time of 51.04
  • Aurora Duncan took the 100 Back (56.61)
  • Gwen Bergum gave the Panthers a win in the 100 Individual Medley and won by nine seconds with a time of 2:05.75
  • The Panthers finished Day One with a win in the 200 Free Relay as Walker, Alencar, Anastasiia Yermishyna and Kasia Rogowska finished with a time of 1:34.03

Men’s highlights

  • The Drury men’s team started the competition with a win in the 400 Medley Relay. Ivan Adamchuk, Davi Mourao, Alejandro Villarejo, and Yuri Cabral had a time of 3:15.46
  • Matteo Vissotto earned a win in the 1000 Free (9:31.34)
  • Alejandro Villarejo won the 200 Fly with a time of 1:48.34
  • Yuri Cabral swam to a winning time of 44.07 in the 100 Free
  • Viktor Khnykin finished first in the 100 Back (48.28)
  • Ivan Adamchuk gave the Panthers a win in the 200 IM (1:51.70)
  • Drury capped the first night with a win in the 200 Free Relay as Lucas Minuer, Khnykin, Aiden Scott, and Cabral posted a winning time of 1:21.21.

The dual continues on Saturday at the Breech Pool on the Drury campus.
