Women’s Basketball Falls to Kansas State in Bill Snyder Classic

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – University of Missouri Women’s Basketball fell to Kansas State, 84-56, Saturday evening in the inaugural Bill Snyder Classic at Civic Arena in St. Joseph, Mo.

Graduate guard Abby Feit led with 13 points for the Tigers on her first start of the season. Feit has reached double-digits in three consecutive games.

Graduate forward Hayley Frank tallied another 13 points for Missouri. The forward now stands 54 points shy of Sharon Farrah (1975-79) for fifth on the program’s all-time scoring leaderboard.

Senior guard Mama Dembele recorded 11 points and six assists. Dembele sits one shy of Raeshara Brown (2007-11) for sixth on Missouri’s all-time career assists standings.

The Tigers’ defense started strong, forcing six turnovers from the Wildcats in the first quarter. After trading baskets, the teams were engaged in a tight battle to open the contest, as Missouri took an early 15-13 advantage. Abby Feit added six points with a pair of three-pointers.

The Wildcats equaled the score at 20-20 and began to pull away during the second quarter.  Kansas State outscored Missouri 12-5 to close the first half as the Wildcats had a 32-25 advantage heading into the break. Hayley Frank ended the half with seven points in the quarter to keep the Tigers within single digits.

The Tigers’ momentum stalled early in the second half, as Missouri put up 12 points to the Wildcats’ 36 in the third quarter. Mizzou went 4-of-14 on its field goal attempts, with Dembele scoring seven of Missouri’s 12 points in the quarter.

Despite the deficit heading into the final quarter, Mizzou outscored Kansas State 19-16 to close the contest.

Missouri converted 14 of their 17 attempts (82.4%) at the free-throw line on the night.

UP NEXT

The Tigers hit the road and take on border-rival Illinois on Sunday, Dec. 17 in the annual Braggin’ Rights contest. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m. and the broadcast will be available on the Big Ten Network.
