Drury finishes 5th at Davenport Panther Invitational

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.— The Drury Panthers finished fifth among 12 teams at the Panther Invitational, hosted by Davenport, at the par-72, 5,829-yard Stonehenge Golf Club North Course in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on Sunday.
 
Scores dropped in Sunday’s second and final round as Drury shot 10 strokes better than Saturday’s first round but dropped two spots on the final day. The Panthers ended the tournament 52-over-par (628). Wayne State (Mich.) won the tournament shooting 39-over-par and took the event by seven shots over Ohio Dominican.
 
Taryn Overstreet led the Panthers and finished tied for 12th in the 69-player field with a +12, 156. The senior from Jackson, Missouri, posted a 76 on Sunday. Isabelle Thrall tied for 15th, shooting a +13, 157. Grace Stafford shot a 159 (+15) and tied for 20th, and Abby Howard put up 80s on both days to end the tournament at 16-over-par and tied for 24th. Jade Carter shot a four-over-par 76 on Sunday to finish +18 (162) and tied for 32nd.
 
Rebecca Vestman from Wayne State won individual medalist honors, finishing with a +5, 149.
 
The Drury women’s golf team returns to action Oct. 22-23 in the Bill Crabtree Invitational hosted by Kentucky Wesleyan at The Pearl Club in Owensboro, Kentucky.
