Drury in 3rd after first round of Panther Invitational in Michigan

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.— The Drury Panthers are in third place among 12 teams at the Panther Invitational, hosted by Davenport, at the par-72, 5,829-yard Stonehenge Golf Club North Course in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on Saturday. 
 
The Panthers scored a 32-over-par, 319 in Saturday’s opening round. Wayne State (Mich.) leads the tournament at 19-over-par, and Ohio Dominican is second at 25-over-par. Drury will enter Sunday’s second round leading host Davenport by one shot and fifth-place Lewis by three strokes.
 
Isabelle Thrall led the Panthers and is tied for ninth after posting a +7, 79. Three Drury players all shot eight-over-par. Taryn Overstreet, Grace Stafford, and Abby Howard all shot 80 and are tied for 17th. Jade Carter is tied for 49th with a +14, 86.
 
Rebecca Vestman from Wayne State leads the tournament at one-under-par. She owns a five-shot lead over three players tied for second.
 
The second and final round of the tournament starts Sunday morning at 10 a.m.
