SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– Drury goalkeeper Kaitlin Knetzke was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week in women’s soccer.
The fifth-year season from Ozark and Springfield-Catholic went 2-0 last week, winning both games by shutout. Knetzke got a 1-0 win on Friday against Lewis in a game that was scoreless for nearly 88 minutes. She earned her second shutout of the week on Sunday with a 2-0 win at home over Indianapolis.
The two wins extended Drury’s and Knetzke’s winning streak to five games and it marked her fourth consecutive shutout. Knetzke’s scoreless streak goes back to the first half of their game on Sept. 3 and has covered 431 minutes.
The award is the fourth time the two-time all-region product has been named the league’s Defensive Player of the Week.
Drury is 5-1 and off to a 2-0 start in the GLVC. The Panthers are on the road next weekend as they travel to Maryville for a 4 p.m. game on Friday, followed by a noon start on Sunday at Missouri S&T.
