SPRINGFIELD — The Missouri State season opener on Saturday, Sept. 23 will not only feature a young and hungry Bears football team, but will also include a number of facility upgrades and new concession options for the upcoming season and beyond.
NEW SCOREBOARD
Foremost among the stadium amenities will be the new video board and sound system that will occupy the south end zone. The new board features a display measuring approximately 23 feet high by 42 feet wide and a 13HD pixel layout to deliver excellent image clarity and contrast throughout the stadium. The Sportsound® 2000HD audio system is also integrated into the new video and scoring system.
BERM SEATING FOR STUDENTS
Missouri State students will have additional seating options on the grass berm just beyond the north end zone for the first time. In addition to traditional student seating on the stadium’s east side, all student tickets are free with a valid BearPass.
STADIUM & CONCESSION UPGRADES
There are a number of other stadium facelift projects that have taken place over the past year with graphics, updates and touch-ups in a variety of areas. In addition, creating a more fan-friendly food and beverage service experience was also a priority in the renovations.
Each concessions area will have new menu boards, more points of sale, an expanded food menu, and television monitors to watch the game while waiting in various queues. Likewise, the stadium will have three new “grab-and-go” stations to expedite the purchase and check-out process, while a new grilling station featuring burgers and other grilled items will entice fans to experience Ozarks barbeque at its finest. Springfield favorite Leong’s Asian Diner will be serving up cashew chicken and sweet & sour chicken at select games this season, including this week’s home opener.
The expanded beverage offerings now include premium beers, while portable stands and in-venue hawkers will help minimize wait times and provide a much more convenient process.
BEARFEST VILLAGE CHANGES
Missouri State’s renowned tailgate experience, known as BearFest Village will also have some new wrinkles this fall with renovations ongoing at Blunt Hall. Student tailgating will move directly north of McDonald Arena but still be a vital part of the BearFest Village scene with a DJ, inflatable games and other new items. The Bear Garden will move to the area around the bear statue north of the stadium, and a new Titan Nutrition hydration station will makes its debut. Tailgating starts at 11 a.m. with load-in starting at 8:30 a.m. BearFest Village space may still be reserved by completing the RESERVATION FORM by Monday at 12 Noon.
