SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– Drury won their fifth-straight game and raised their league record to 2-0 with a 2-0 win over Indianapolis on Sunday at Harrison Stadium in Springfield.
The Panthers went to 5-1 and 2-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, while the Greyhounds dropped to 2-3-1 and 1-1 in the GLVC.
Drury threatened early and got on the board late in the first half on an own goal. With five minutes left before halftime, the Panthers pressured with a ball deep in the box and had a shot deflect off of a Greyhounds defender and into the net to give Drury a 1-0 lead.
The Panthers owned a 13-3 advantage in shots in the first half, but Indianapolis nearly evened the game in the 63rd minute when Genevieve Crooker fired a shot that hit the crossbar.
Drury’s Kourtney Tucker gave her team a cushion in the 83rd minute as the senior from Springfield-Central fired in her first goal of the year with an assist from Tara Simon.
The Panthers finished the game with 21 shots to Indianapolis’ seven and Drury goalkeeper Kaitlin Knetzke picked up her fourth straight shutout.
Drury plays again on Friday when they travel to St. Louis to face Maryville at 4 p.m.
