DRAFTED: Spencer Nivens Selected in the 5th Round by the Kansas City Royals

After two standout seasons at Missouri State, it appears Spencer Nivens will be taking his talents to the professional ranks.

The redshirt sophomore was selected in the fifth round of the 2023 MLB Draft by the Kansas City Royals with the 142nd overall pick.

Nivens, who was nearly cut by the Bears his freshman year, hit .343 with 25 home runs and 98 RBI’s over 116 college games.

He was selected as a freshman All-American last year, and was named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year this season.

Nivens is the 8th Missouri State player to be selected in the first five rounds of the draft since 2015.
