SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— Drury’s Sylvain Garin-Michaud was named the Midwest Region Senior Player of the Year in men’s tennis by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
Garin-Michaud ended the year ranked sixth nationally in singles and was on the 15th ranked doubles team in NCAA-II with partner Marlon Wilken. The senior from Saint Etienne, France, went 10-4 in singles playing in Drury’s number one singles position. He won all three of his singles matches in conference play, and five of his 10 singles wins during the season came against nationally ranked opponents. Garin-Michaud posted a 9-4 mark overall in doubles and he went 8-3 with Wilken in Drury’s lead doubles position.
Earlier this year, Garin-Michaud was named to the All-Great Lakes Valley Conference team for the second time in his career. He helped the Panthers to a 10-7 record and the team’s 23rd trip to the NCAA-II Tournament in 28 years.
