McGivern Named to SEC Softball Community Service Team

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – University of Missouri softball senior Hannah McGivern was named to the SEC Community Service Team, the league announced Tuesday.

McGivern leads the Tigers softball team in community service hours. The Weston, Missouri, outfielder, and pinch runner, has volunteered at the Thompson Center for Autism, the Downtown Optimist Club, and at the Mid-Continent Summer League Camp along with assisting in campus clean-up projects. McGivern has also volunteered her time with Special Olympics at the Missouri Outdoor Games Softball Tournament and has served as a mentor for the Mizzou Youth Experience.

A member of Mizzou’s Navy ROTC, she has been accepted into the post graduate Naval Academy. 

McGivern will graduate this May with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from Missouri.

In the classroom, she has been named to the 2021 and 2022 Spring SEC Academic Honor Roll and the 2019-20 First-Year SEC Academic Honor Roll.

McGivern has appeared in 72 career games as a Tiger with 26 runs and 12 stolen bases over four seasons in Columbia, Missouri. 

The SEC sponsors Community Service Teams for all 21 league sponsored sports. The Community Service Team looks to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to their community in superior service efforts.

No. 13-seed Missouri will face No. 12 Mississippi State Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m., CT in the First Round of the 2023 SEC Tournament at Bogle Park in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Tuesday’s action will be broadcasted on SEC Network.
