Women’s Basketball to Face Kansas State in Bill Snyder Classic

COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri Women’s Basketball will face Kansas State in the inaugural Bill Snyder Classic on Dec. 9 in St. Joseph, Mo. as announced by the city’s sports commission on Tuesday.

The contest between the old conference rivals is slated for a 5 p.m. tipoff in Civic Arena. Television designation will be announced at a later date.

The neutral sight contest will mark the 84th meeting between the programs and the first since 2017. The Wildcats lead the all-time series 45-38 with Missouri winning the last three matchups.

Kansas State finished last season with a 19-17 overall record including a 5-13 mark against Big 12 opponents.

The Wildcats are led by Jeff Mittie who is entering his 10th season on the sideline with a 164-127 record. All-Big 12 First Team member Gabby Gregory guided the Wildcats with 18.5 points and 5.3 rebounds per game last year.

Ticket information will be released in the coming months, all sales will be facilitated through the Civic Arena Box Office. 

The remainder of the 2023-24 Mizzou Women’s Basketball Schedule will be released at a later date.

BILL SNYDER CLASSIC

The matchup will serve as the inaugural game for the Bill Snyder Classic. A native of St. Joe, the College Football Hall of Fame Coach accumulated 215 wins during two stints at Kanas State from 1989-05 and 2009-18. Snyder was inducted into the St. Joseph Area Sports Hall of Fame in 2021 and for the second straight year, will present the Snyder Woman of Impact Award at the enshrinement ceremonies this August.

CIVIC ARENA

Originally constructed in 1980 with a capacity of 3,300, the Civic Arna recently completed a multimillion-dollar renovation that provided enhancement to the court, lighting, seating, scoreboard and locker rooms. The venue has hosted the NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball National Championship five times (2003, 2004, 2010, 2011, 2023). On its opening night debut, the arena served as the venue for an exhibition game against the Kansas City Kings and the Atlanta Hawks.
