Sullivan Inks Transfer Setter Luisa Vilaca

COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri Volleyball Head Coach Dawn Sullivan announced Tuesday the signing of transfer Luisa Vilaca.

Vilaca, a 6-2 setter from Sao Francisco do Sul, Brazil, comes to Mizzou after spending the past two seasons at Miami Dade College in Miami, Florida.

As a freshman at MDC in 2021, she was named to the first-team All-Southern Conference and Southern Conference All-Academic first team. She also earned NJCAA National Offensive Player of the Week and was named conference setter of the week multiple times.

Vilaca helped the Sharks advance to the 2022 NJCAA National Championship Finals and secure a state title in 2021. She averaged 10.77 assists per set with MDC.

In high school, Vilaca was a part of Brazil’s U-21 national team, and she was named the best setter at the U18 “Taca Parana 2018.” She also helped her Brazilian U-21 club team capture a state championship.

Vilaca competed for the Barueri Volleyball Club in São Paulo, Brazil.

Vilaca is the fifth transfer for Sullivan after the addition of libero Maya Sands in January, along with transfer Naomi Franco, and graduate transfers Dilara Gedikoglu and Colleen Finney.
