Seven Wrestlers Named NWCA Scholar All-Americans

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) announced its 2022-23 Scholar All-Americans today, April 25, with seven University of Missouri wrestlers being recognized. This marks Mizzou’s sixth consecutive season with at least four honorees.

Redshirt Sophomore Noah Surtin (Health Sciences), sophomore Keegan O’Toole (Personal Financial Planning), redshirt Senior Connor Brown (Multicultural Education), senior Jarrett Jacques (Communication), redshirt senior Allan Hart (Master of Education), redshirt junior Peyton Mocco (Industrial Engineering) and sophomore Rocky Elam (Agriculture) were Missouri’s 2022-23 recipients.

The honor is the first for R. Elam and Brown, second for Hart (2022, 2023), third for Surtin (2021,2022,2023) and O’Toole (2021, 2022, 2023), fourth for Mocco (2020, 2021,2022, 2023) and fifth for Jacques (2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023).

For individuals to qualify for the honor, the student-athlete must have at least one full semester of attendance and a cumulative GPA at the nominating institution. In addition, the wrestler must meet one of the following criteria:

·        Must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA and earned All American honors in the same academic year.

·        Must have a 3.2 cumulative GPA and have been a NCAA National tournament qualifier in the same academic year.

·        Must have a 3.5 cumulative GPA and Must have won 60% of their total matches in at least 60% of the team’s schedule.

·        Must have a 3.5 cumulative GPA and been a participant at the conference qualifying tournament.
