Drury falls shorts to 11th ranked Indianapolis in GLVC Semifinals

SMITHVILLE, Mo.— The Drury women’s golf team fell to 11th ranked Indianapolis in the semifinals of Medal Match play in the Great Lakes Valley Conference tournament championship held on the Outlaw Course of the Paradise Pointe Golf Complex in Smithville, Missouri, on Sunday.
 
The Panthers advanced to the semifinals after finishing fourth in the 54-hole stroke play portion of the championship and drew top-seeded Indianapolis.
 
The Greyhounds won all five match-ups to move to the championship round. The closest contest was Anci Dy’s win by five strokes over Carmen Fletcher. Katelyn Skinner, who won the league’s stroke play individual championship by eight shots on Saturday, defeated Drury’s Grace Stafford by six strokes. Drury’s Shehna Akbary finished fifth in stroke play on Saturday and fell to Elyse Stasil by six shots. Ava Ray defeated Abby Howard by eight shots and Catharina Graf was a 13-shot winner over Isabelle Thrall.
 
Sunday’s semifinal marked the second straight season the Panthers advanced to the Medal Match tournament at the GLVC Championship.
 
Drury will wait to see if they will earn an at-large bid to the NCAA-II Regional Tournament. The Panthers were ranked 15th in the latest East Regional rankings. The East Regional tournament takes 15 teams, with the top five teams advancing to the NCAA-II Championship.
