Valley Football Recognizes Academic Standouts

ST. LOUIS – A total of 35 current and former Missouri State football student-athletes were honored Thursday (April 20) as part of the 2022 Missouri Valley Football Conference Honor Roll, as announced by the league office. 

Topping the list of Bear honorees is Ben Martinez who was the only Missouri State student-athlete to be honored with the President’s Council Academic Excellence Award.
 
The President’s Council Academic Excellence Award requires a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade point average (through Fall 2022 semester) and participation in football a minimum of two years.  The 51 honorees in the league this year are also scheduled to graduate by the end of the summer of 2023.
 
Nine grid Bears were also announced as part of the league’s Commissioner’s Academic Excellence Award, which requires a minimum grade-point average of 3.2 for the previous two semesters. Freshmen are not eligible. Missouri State’s honorees are: Caden Bolz, Jahod Booker, Jacob Clark, Gary Clinton, Sean Fitzgerald, Grant Goodson, Hess Horne, Celdon Manning and Terique Owens.
 
The Commissioner’s Academic Excellence Award, requires a minimum GPA of 3.2 for the previous two semesters (freshmen are not eligible). A total of 279 student-athletes received the award this year.

The Missouri Valley Football Conference Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes who have recorded a minimum 3.0 grade point average for the Fall 2022 semester. These individuals must have been a member of the football team, and must have a minimum of 12 hours of enrollment during the fall. 

Missouri State’s members of the MVFC Honor Roll for 2022 are: Khaled Alasad, Arian Bhat, Caden Bolz, Jahod Booker, Caleb Bouldin, Grant Burkett, Tahj Chambers, Jacob Clark, Gary Clinton, Caleb Dietlin, Ian Fitzgerald, Sean Fitzgerald, Tevita Fuimaono, Grant Goodson, Raveion Harrell, Brett Harris, Ahmias Hart, Hess Horne, Cash Hudson, Isaiah Isaac, Jeremiah Johnson, Connor Lair, Kevon Latulas, Cristian Loaiza, Celdon Manning, Ben Martinez, Lance Mason, Stetson Moore, J.J. O’Neal, Liam O’Reilly, Terique Owens, Jose Pizano, Thomas Schulte, Steven Ward and Hunter Wood.

To qualify for the MVFC Honor Roll, a student-athlete must have recorded a minimum 3.0 grade point average for a specified term (Fall 2022), must have been a member of the football team, and must have been enrolled full time during the fall.  More than 700 student-athletes earned Honor Roll recognition this year.
