Panthers shut out Truman State

OZARK, Mo.— The Drury Panthers cruised to two shutout wins over Truman State on Saturday at Sky Bacon Stadium in Ozark, Missouri.

In game one, Mason Meeks went all seven innings and only allowed three hits. Connor Bain continued his hot streak as he went four for four with three RBIs and was just a home run away from hitting for the cycle.

“He’s started hot,” said Drury’s head coach Scott Nasby of Connor Bain “To have a freshman doing that
type of stuff for us this late in the year is huge for not just but also down the road.”

In game two the bats started to settle down a bit as the Panthers didn’t truly break through until the fifth inning where Luke Burk’s two-run single lifted the Panther lead to 3-0. Drury eventually expanded the lead to 5-0 in the sixth where then Tyler Bastunas came in to shut the door on any possible Truman State comeback with a 1-2-3 seventh inning.

Jack Jones pitched six scoreless innings in the win while also striking out eight bulldogs.

The Panthers finish the series against Truman State tomorrow as they look to sweep the Bulldogs at Sky Bacon Stadium in Ozark, Missouri. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
