Kieser-Brown Earns Jefferson Club Golden Quill Alumni Excellence Award

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The University of Missouri track and field team’s associate head coach Natasha Kieser-Brown has been honored with the Jefferson Club Golden Quill Alumni Excellence Award as announced by the club’s board of trustees on Wednesday.

The award recognizes alumni who demonstrate excellence in their chosen field and/or outstanding achievement; and who reflect the core values of Mizzou: Respect, Responsibility, Discovery and Excellence.

Kaiser-Brown, a two-time U.S. Olympian and a six-time All-American, is in her fifth year on staff overseeing Missouri sprinters, hurdlers and relay teams.

One of the most decorated athletes in school history, she was the first woman to represent Mizzou at the Olympics in 1992 and again in 1996, winning a silver medal in the 4×400 relay at the 1992 games. Her gold medal-winning 4×400 relay at the 1993 World Championships set a world record, which still stands.

In addition to the All-American honors, Kaiser-Brown’s claimed five Big Eight Conference championships, Big Eight Female Athlete of the Year honors, and a national collegiate record in the 400 meters.

As a coach, she has guided eight NCAA finalists, 32 conference champions and 42 school record holders.

Prior to returning to Missouri, Kaiser-Brown served as the head coach at Drake for 16 seasons where she led 60 NCAA qualifiers, 39 conference champions and 40 program record holders.

Kaiser-Brown earned her bachelor’s degree from Missouri’s College of Arts and Science in 1990. She is a Mizzou Athletics Hall of Fame member, a lifetime member of Mizzou Alumni Association, the Varsity M Club, and the Mizzou Black Alumni Network (MBAN), winning the MBAN Trailblazer Award in 2018.
