WARRENSBURG, Mo.— Drury moved up one spot and finished fourth in a 14-team field at the Midwest Intercollegiate Classic hosted by Central Missouri at the Mules National Golf Club in Warrensburg on Tuesday.
The Panthers were 13 shots better in the second round on Tuesday and passed Truman State to finish fourth. Drury was 93-over-par in the 36-hole event. Central Missouri won the tournament shooting 621 (+61), while Augustana (SD) was second (+67), and Southwestern Oklahoma State was third (+68).
Shehna Akbary led Drury and tied for 13th among 81 players. The junior from Toronto, Ont., had the Panthers best round of the tournament, shooting a six-over-par 76 on Tuesday to finish with a +19, 159. Isabelle Thrall and Carmen Fletcher both were 25-over-par to finish tied for 25th. Abby Howard and Grace Stafford both tied for 31st shooting a +28, 168.
Molly Stevens from Augustana won the tournament in a two-hole playoff from Haley Jones of Central Missouri after both completed their 36-holes with a 13-over-par, 153.
The Panthers play again April 3-4 at the Newman Invitational in Wichita, Kan.
