Drury tied for 5th after first round of Midwest Intercollegiate Classic

WARRENSBURG, Mo.— Drury is in fifth place among 14 teams at the Midwest Intercollegiate Classic hosted by Central Missouri at the Mules National Golf Club in Warrensburg, Missouri, on Monday.
 
The Panthers posted a team score of 333 to be 53-over-par through 18 holes. Southwestern Oklahoma State leads the tournament at 35-over-par, while Augustana (SD) is just one shot back, and Central Missouri is in third after shooting 43-over-par. Drury is just three strokes behind Truman State for fourth going into the final round on Tuesday.
 
Grace Stafford is leading Drury and is tied for 15th in a field of 81 players after her opening-round 81. She is 11-over-par and is six shots off the tournament lead. Shehna Akbary is tied for 21st after shooting 83 (+13), and Isabelle Thrall is at 14-over-par (84) and tied for 25th. Abby Howard and Carmen Fletcher both posted an 85 on Monday and are tied for 32nd at 15-over-par.
 
Megan Brown from Southwestern Oklahoma State leads the tournament with a five-over-par 75. Two other players are just one shot back and eight are within three shots of the lead.
 
The second and final round is scheduled to start Tuesday morning in Warrensburg.
