Panthers tied for 14th in bunched field at Saginaw Valley St. Invitational

LEXINGTON, Ky.— Drury is tied for 14th but is just 15 shots off the lead after the first round of the Saginaw Valley State Invitational at Kearney Hill Golf Links in Lexington, Kentucky, on Saturday. The Panthers shot a 21-over-par 309 in their first 18 holes and are tied with Kentucky Wesleyan in 14th. Purdue-Northwest, at six-over-par, leads the 21-team tournament field, while Davenport is in second at nine-over, and Saginaw Valley State is in third with a +10, 298. 

Hunter Jowers is among five players tied for ninth after shooting a one-over-par 73. The sophomore from Jonesboro, Ark., is one shot away from being in a second-place tie and three shots off the lead in the field of 124. 

Clayton Kaiser shot a 76 and is tied for 34th, while Walker Tynes is seven-over-par and tied for 65th. Alex Wiseman is tied for 90th at nine-over-par (81), and Jack Day shot a +10, 82, and is tied for 99th. 

Alex Bishop from Purdue-Northwest leads the tournament with a two-under-par 70. 

The tournament concludes on Sunday.
