No. 17 Gymnastics Readies for SEC Championships

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The No. 17 University of Missouri gymnastics team opens postseason competition at the 2022 Southeastern Conference Championships on Saturday, March 18 at the Gas South Arena in Duluth, Ga. The Tigers will compete in the afternoon session at 2:30 p.m. alongside No. 12 Auburn, No. 16 Arkansas and No. 18 Georgia, while No. 3 Florida, No. 6 LSU, No. 8 Kentucky, and No. 10 Alabama will go in the evening session at 7 p.m. SEC Network will broadcast both sessions.

 

#MIZ NOTABLES

  • Heading into the postseason, the Tigers are ranked 17th nationally for the second week in a row, including top-20 standings in each event.

  • The Tigers set a new program-high score this season against Arkansas, putting up 197.850. The same meet saw program records on bars and beam.

  • Also earlier this season, a perfect 10 from freshman Jocelyn Moore on vault capped off an upset of No. 5 Auburn. It counted as the third perfect score in program history, and only the second Mizzou gymnast to tally a perfect 10 following Lauren Schwartzman’s two perfect performances in 2004.

  • Last time out on Senior Day, senior Helen Hu and freshman Addison Lawrence each posted a near-perfect 9.975 on beam to help propel the Tigers to 49.525 collectively in the event. Senior Sienna Schreiber followed up with a 9.925.

  • On floor in the Senior Day Quad Meet, Schreiber, alongside graduates Hannah McCrary and Alisa Sheremeta, all scored a 9.90. Sophomore Amari Celestine led the way for the Tigers in the event with a near-perfect and high score of 9.925.
