Panthers with three competing for NCAA-II wrestling championship starting Friday

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa– The NCAA-II national wrestling championships begin Friday in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and the Drury Panthers have three competing in the national event, the most the program has ever sent to the national tournament. Caden Howard, Peter Kuster, and Will Kuster all advanced through the NCAA-II Super Regional in Edmond, Oklahoma, on Feb. 26 for the right to compete for a national championship.
 
Peter Kuster is 18-3 at 141 pounds and seeded fifth on the bracket. The senior from Jefferson City, Missouri, is competing in his fourth career national tournament and was an All-American last year, finishing seventh. Kuster will open the tournament Friday morning against Dean Noble (9-4) out of Colorado Mesa.
 
Caden Howard will compete in the 125-pound bracket. The Lenexa, Kansas, native is 19-8 and will take on fourth-seeded Shane Corrigan from Wisconsin Parkside in the opening round on Friday morning. This is Howard’s first national tournament appearance.
 
Will Kuster is also making his first national tournament appearance. The junior from Jefferson City is 21-5 competing at 165 pounds and his 21 wins are tied for the fourth-most in a Drury single-season. Kuster will take on the second-seeded Alex Farenchak out of Gannon, who is 3-0 at in the weight class so far this season.
 
Competition starts Friday morning at the Alliant Energy PowerHouse in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and the double-elimination tournament continues through Saturday.
