Panthers sweep Winona State

OZARK, Mo.— The Drury Panthers rolled to a doubleheader sweep of Winona State on Saturday, winning game one 11-0 and the second game 9-2 at US Baseball Park in Ozark.
 
Drury raised their record to 8-2 and dropped the Warriors to an 0-3 start to their season.
 
Drury ended game one in seven innings with an 11-0 win. The Panthers scored four runs in the opening frame on five hits, highlighted by a two-run double by Tyler Bastunas. Bastunas added another RBI double in the third and Carson Shaver gave Drury a 6-0 lead in the inning with an RBI on an infield single.
 
Munro ended the game going 4 for 4 with a double and two RBI’s. Bastunas was 2 for 3 with three runs batted in, and Briar Stinson went 3 for 4 with an RBI and three runs scored.
 
Cade Waits (2-0) pitched six shutout innings to get the win allowing just two hits and two walks with six strikeouts.
 
The Panthers scored four runs in the first inning again in game two on their way to a 9-2 win and a sweep of the doubleheader. Drury took advantage of an error, got an RBI hit from Wes Collins, then capped the first inning with a two-run triple by Tyler Bastunas.
 
Leading 6-2 in the seventh, the Panthers put the game away with three runs.
 
Collins went 3 for 5 with two runs and two RBIs.
 
Mason Meeks (2-0) got the win going six innings, allowing four hits and one earned run with two walks and four strikeouts.
 
Drury concludes the four-game series on Sunday when they host Winona State at noon at US Baseball Park.
