Panthers pick up points in Day One of GLVC indoor track & field championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The Drury women’s track & field picked up points in a pair of events, while the Panthers men’s team placed in the Distance Medley Relay.
 
The DU women’s team is in fifth place after Saturday’s competition with 14 points. Lewis leads after the first day with 55 points. Indianapolis is in second with 46 points, and Southwest Baptist is in third with 21.
 
Drury’s men’s team is in 12^th with three points. Indianapolis leads with 44 points, while Lewis is in second with 37, and Missouri S&T is in third with 34 points.  
 
Saturday Highlights

• Luz Olivera and Zoe Van Dijk both placed in the women’s 5000 run. Olivera was third with a time of 17:47.45, while Van Dijk was fifth (18:16.76)

• Freshman Ethan Haynes just missed the top eight with a ninth place finish in the men’s 5000, posting a time 15:23.25, missing eighth by two seconds

• The Drury women’s distance medley relay team came in fifth. Jasmyn Douglas, Jacy Rule, Bella Buenting, and Mia Harris combined for a time of 12:40.59

• DU men’s squad came in sixth in the distance medley relay. Cole Sutton, Luke Kerr, Thomas Shuster, and James Sly completed the run in 10:28.35

• Bria Armstrong advanced to tomorrow’s final in the 60 meter hurdles (9.02)

• John Paul Godwin qualified for the finals in the men’s 60 meter hurdles (8.55)

• Ashley Childers and Margaux Shelton will both compete in Sunday’s final of the 60 meter dash as Childers had a time of 7.65 and Shelton ran a 7.77 in the preliminary heats

• Jaedyn Lowe reached the finals of the 400 meter dash (1:01.74)

• Childers will also compete in the finals of the 200 meter dash as she posted the best time in prelims (24.96)

 
 
The GLVC indoor track & field championships continue on Sunday at 9 am at the Athletic & Recreation Center at the University of Indianapolis.
