Mizzou Takes on Georgia Saturday

The Missouri men’s basketball team begins its final road trip of the regular season, squaring off with Georgia on Saturday afternoon. The schools are set to meet at noon CT on SEC Network.

ABOUT THE TIGERS
• Mizzou owns a 20-8 record during the 2023-24 season with an 8-7 mark in SEC play.
• The Tigers are coming off a 66-64 overtime win against Mississippi State on Tuesday.
• Senior Kobe Brown leads the Tigers with 16.4 points and 6.0 rebounds per game this season.
• D’Moi Hodge (13.8) and DeAndre Gholston (10.0) follow Brown’s lead and also score in double figures for the Tigers.
• Nick Honor leads MU with 2.9 assists per game.
• Mizzou ranks 23rd in the country with a scoring offense of 79.8, while allowing 75.1 points.

ABOUT THE BULLDOGS
• Georgia is 16-12 this season with a 6-9 record in SEC play – tied for 10th in the standings.
• The Bulldogs have lost their last two at Alabama and Arkansas but have won their last two home games, where they are 13-2 on the year.
• Terry Roberts leads Georgia with 13.8 points, 4.0 assists and 1.6 steals per game.
• Kario Oquendo is second with 12.9 points.
• Georgia is averaging 69.3 points per game, while allowing 71.2 defensively.

SERIES HISTORY
• Missouri owns a 10-8 advantage in the all-time series, while Georgia holds a slight 8-7 edge since Mizzou joined the SEC in 2012-13.
• The Tigers have won five of the last six games over the Bulldogs, including a 79-69 home win last season.
• The schools have also met in three of the last four conference tournaments with Missouri claiming the last two victories.

SEC TOURNAMENT STANDING
• With three games left in the regular season, the Tigers are tied for sixth in the SEC standings.
• Right now, MU would earn the No. 6 seed by virtue of winning a three-way tiebreaker with Vanderbilt and Arkansas.
• Mizzou, however, can still finish anywhere from the third to 11th seed in the final standings as the Tigers are two games within both seed lines.
• The highest seed the Tigers have earned since joining the SEC in 2013 was the No. 5 seed (2018).

TOP MARKS IN 2022-23
• The Tigers are enjoying one of their best seasons in years during the 2022-23 campaign.
• With a 20-8 overall record and with at least four games left, Missouri already has its most wins in a season since totaling 20 in 2017-18.
• The Tigers last won more than 20 games when they went 23-12 in 2013-14.
• It hasn’t come easy for the Tigers as the team’s five ranked wins are its most in the last 11 years.
• MU finished the non-conference campaign 12-1 – its best mark since also going 12-1 in 2013-14.
• Finally, the Tigers’ 15 wins at Mizzou Arena are tied for the fourth-most home wins this season and MU’s most since going 16-3 in 2013-14.

BEST SINCE…
• More than just wins, the Tigers are also putting up some of their best statistics in years.
• Leading the way, Mizzou has posted its highest scoring offense (79.8) since 2011-12 (80.4).
• Overall, MU’s season averages in six stats are its highest in over 10 years; field goal percentage, 2-point percentage, assists, turnovers and steals.

BUILDING A RESUME
• MU is aiming to return to the NCAA Tournament this season and is filling in its resume to do so.
• Against the nation’s 29th-ranked schedule, the Tigers have totaled five quad one wins and nine combined quad one and quad two victories.
• Mizzou is tied for 14th nationally with its five quad one wins and 21st in the country with its nine victories against the top two quads.
• Additionally, the Tigers are one of just seven schools with undefeated records against quad two, three and four teams.

A FLARE FOR THE DRAMATIC
• The Tigers have been at their best in close games this season.
• Mizzou is a perfect 6-0 in contests decided by five or fewer points, including 5-0 in one-possession matches and 2-0 in overtime games.
• Three times this year, the Tigers were trailing with less than 10 seconds left only to hit a game-winning triple – DeAndre Gholston versus UCF and Tennessee and Nick Honor in Mizzou’s last game versus Mississippi State.
• Overall, MU is tied for the SEC lead with four wins in one-possession games during conference play.

LEADER IN KOBE BROWN
• Senior Kobe Brown is putting together one of the best seasons in years by a Tiger.
• Brown’s 16.4 points are the most by a Mizzou player since Jabari Brown had 19.9 in 2013-14.
• His 17.9 points in SEC play are the second most in MU history (Jabari Brown had 20.7 in 2013-14).
• Brown’s nine 20-point games are the most by a Tiger since Kassius Robertson had 11 in 2017-18.
