Munro’s six RBI’s helps Drury sweep Rockhurst

OZARK, Mo.— First baseman Cooper Munro had six runs batted in Drury’s doubleheader sweep of Rockhurst on Sunday as the Panthers won game one 5-2 and the second game 6-2 at US Baseball Park in Ozark.

Drury ended the day 5-1 while dropping the Hawks to 0-6. Sunday’s game and weekend series were non-conference games.

In game one, the Panthers trailed 2-1 heading into the bottom of the eighth. Drury tied the game on an RBI double by Kellen Williamson. After Briar Stinson walked, Munro blasted his first home run of the year to left field and the three-run shot gave the Panthers their first lead of the game and put them in front 5-2.

Munro also drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the sixth.

Zach McKinnis (1-0) pitched the eighth and ninth innings to get the win in relief, while Thomas Jones (0-2) took the loss.

Munro gave Drury a 2-1 lead in the third inning of game two, driving in a pair of runs with a single. The Panthers built on the lead with four runs in the sixth as Luke Burke picked up an RBI single, and Stinson drove in three with an extra-base hit.

Mason Meeks (1-0) got the win allowing only one run in six innings and he struck out four without allowing a walk. PJ Loucks (0-1) took the loss for Rockhurst.
