Panthers shoot down 5-2

 
SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— The Drury Panthers took down Newman 5-2 at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield on Saturday.
 
Drury improved to 3-1 and sent the Jets to a 1-3 mark.
 
The Panthers took a 1-0 lead after doubles as DU’s team of Yaroslav Sharvy/Mark Drozdetskii defeated the number pair from Newman 7-6, winning the tie-breaker 7-2 to clinch the point. Drury’s number six singles player, Oscar Reis, clinched the win with the Panthers’ fourth point as he bounced back from a first set loss to win 4-6, 7-5, 1-0. Sylvain Garin-Michaud, Yaroslav Sharvy, and Marlon Wilken also earned singles wins over the Jets.
 
Drury returns to the court on Monday when they host Maryville in a non-conference match at 10 am at the Cooper Tennis Complex.
