Christian Brothers outslug Panthers

MEMPHIS, Tenn.—Drury turned out 13 runs but fell to Christian Brothers 20-13 to end a three-game series at Christian Brothers on Sunday in Memphis.
The Panthers fell to 2-1, while the Buccaneers went to 4-3.
Drury came out hot with a two-run double by Wes Collins, followed by RBI knocks from Briar Stinson and Tyler Bastunas in the first inning. Luke Burk would drive in another run for the Panthers, making it a 5-0 ballgame after one-half inning of play.
The Buccaneers fired their cannons in the second inning, scoring six runs on six hits. The Christian Brothers offense found struck again in the third, scoring five runs to take an 11-6 lead over Drury. Briar Stinson would cut the Buccaneer lead to four, slapping a single in the fourth inning to score Kellen Williamson.
Christian Brothers kept their offense alive and opened up an 17-8 lead after six innings. Kellen Williamson brought a spark to the Panthers after crushing a three-run shot to center in the seventh inning. Cooper Munro followed by smacking an RBI single to right field, scoring Wes Collins. Luke Matschiner tacked on another run for Drury with a single up the middle to score Bastunas and make it a 17-13 game.
The Bucs added three more late runs to close out the game 20-13.
JD Whitter (0-1) took the loss in relief for Drury, while Joseph Gibson (1-0) got the win for Christian Brothers.
Drury plays their home opener next weekend as they open a four-game series against Rockhurst on Friday at 3 pm.
