Lady Panthers cruise past Quincy

QUINCY, Ill. – The second-ranked Drury Lady Panthers cruised to their 12^th straight win with an 87-49 win at Quincy on Monday night.
 
Drury lifted their record to 16-1 and 9-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, while the Hawks fell to 7-10 and 3-6 in the GLVC.
 
The Lady Panthers led 27-14 at the end of the first quarter and stretched the lead to 21 at halftime, 48-27. They were up by as much as 40 in the second half.
 
“I thought we were really sharp on both sides of the ball,” said Drury head coach Amy Eagan. “We played really hard and with a good effort. We made a lot of things happen because of how active we were. Offensively, we shared the ball really well today and had some extremely good looks. We were able to create some mismatches that we took advantage of and made some really good reads off of ball screens.”
 
Five Drury players scored in double-figures and the Lady Panthers got 47 points out of their bench. Alana Findley had 12 points and seven rebounds in just 14 minutes for Drury, while freshman Rhi Gibbons added 12 points and seven rebounds as the Nixa product went 6 for 7 from the field. Kaylee DaMitz-Holt had 11 points and eight assists, and Reese Schaaf had her third-straight double-figure scoring game with 11 points.
 
Emma Knipe had 10 points and 10 rebounds to lead Quincy.
 
The Drury defense forced 30 turnovers from the Hawks and held Quincy to 15 of 42 shooting (36 percent), including 2 for 16 from three-point range. The Lady Panthers owned a 37-30 rebound advantage, with 18 rebounds coming on the offensive end.
 
Drury is back at home on Thursday when they host William Jewell for a 5:45 pm game at the O’Reilly Family Event Center.
