Panthers win both duals on Senior Day

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– The Drury Panthers picked up two wins on Senior Day as they earned a 45-6 conference win over Quincy, then shut out Kentucky Wesleyan 50-0 in the O’Reilly Family Event Center on Saturday.
 
The Panthers improved to 2-2 in duals and 1-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Quincy ended the day 5-4 and 0-2 in the GLVC, while Kentucky Wesleyan left with a 1-7 record.
 
Drury won nine of 10 matches against Quincy and won six of them by Fall. Brandon Borlinghaus, Jon O’Connell, Will Kuster, BK Seago, and Thomas Massengale all pinned their opponents, and Massengale, competing in the heavyweight class, won in 49 seconds.
 
The Panthers swept Kentucky Wesleyan to end the day. O’Connell had the dual’s most competitive match and edged Cade Johnson 3-2 in the 157-pound division. Peter Kuster, ranked third nationally at 141 pounds, won by Fall over Gabe Adams in 2:28. Kuster won by Major Decision, 15-4, earlier on Saturday in the dual against Quincy. In addition to Kuster, Blake Bills, Logan Zimmermann, and Massengale all won by Fall against Kentucky Wesleyan.
 
“We were happy to honor our seniors get a couple of victories at home,” said Drury head coach James Reynolds. “We had some really good performances and some not-so-good ones. We will continue to improve as a dual meet team and be firing on all cylinders soon enough.”
 
Drury competes again on Wednesday when they host Davenport in a conference dual at 5 pm in Weiser Gym.
