Opening Round Recap of 77th Annual Greenwood Blue and Gold Tournament

The quarterfinals are set at the 77th Annual Greenwood Blue and Gold Basketball Tournament in Springfield.

For the first time since 2014, all eight seeded teams in the Blue Division and all eight seeded teams in the Gold Division won their first round games.

Blue Division first round games were played at Hammons Student Center, with opening round contests in the Gold Division taking place at Great Southern Bank Arena on the Missouri State University campus.

Here are the scores from Monday’s opening round of the Greenwood Blue and Gold Tournament (seeds in parenthesis):

Blue Division (1st round games at Hammons Student Center):

Final: (8) Ash Grove 67, Skyline 40 (Brady Nicholson scored 27 points for Ash Grove)

Final: (1) Bolivar 49, Springfield Catholic 30 (Senior Kyle Pock scores 16 to lead Liberators)

Final (Overtime): (5) Sparta 64, Mountain Grove 60 (Sparta’s Jacob Lafferty hits two free throws with 7.6 seconds left in OT to seal the win. Steven Brown scores 20 points for the Trojans, while Bradley Henry puts in 23 for the Panthers)

Final: (4) Ozark 52, Reeds Spring 34 (Jace Whatley and Hudson Roberts score 10 points each for the Tigers, while Addison Abshire leads the Wolves with 11 points)

Final: (7) Springfield Hillcrest 60, Spokane 47 (Tanner Hicks scored 15 to lead the Hornets, with JD Take putting in 21 in a losing effort for the Owls)

Final: (2) Republic 74, Stockton 32 (Ahlante Askew’s 17 points lead Republic)

Final: (6) Camdenton 56, Mt. Vernon 44 (Camdenton led 13-0 after one quarter before the Mountaineers scored 18 in the 2nd period)

Final: (3) Hartville 68, Buffalo 33 (Hartville’s Jalon Cryer’s 23 points led all scorers)

Gold Division (1st round games at Great Southern Bank Arena)

Final: (8) Marshfield 53, West Plains 49 (Zack Mings and Tegen Curley scored 17 points each for Marshfield. Bryant Bull’s layup with 22 seconds left in the game broke a 49-49 tie)

Final: (1) Nixa 86, Clever 39 (Nixa breaks Gold Division record for 3 pointers made with 17, falling short of tying their overall tournament record of 19 set in an 86-24 1st round win over Mt. Vernon in 2021

Final: (5) Fair Grove 69, Crane 47 (Tyler Barnett scores 18 and Spensar Seiger adds 17 for the Eagles)

Final: (4) Springfield Parkview 59, Branson 36 (Vikings sophomore Dassiah Green leads his team with 12 points)

Final: (7) Lebanon 51, Willard 46 (Lebanon trailed 30-21 at the half and went into the 4th quarter down by two. Wyatt Carr scored 21 points and hit some big shots down the stretch to lead the Yellow Jackets)

Final: (2) Rogersville 57,Ava 21 (Curry Sutherland scores 17 and Haden Sircy puts in 13 points to pace the Wildcats)

Final: (6) Greenwood 65, Willow Springs 44 (Greenwood’s Nick Burri scores 29 points to lead all scorers, while freshman Kolby James put in 17 points for the Bears)

Final: (3) Strafford 86, Aurora 64 (Cody Voysey scored 23 points to lead the Indians, with Elliott Goings adding 19. Freshman Cannon Thornhill scored 18 to lead Aurora).
