Hanson, Christiansen lead Tigers at SEC Cross Country Championships

OXFORD, Miss. – Senior Marquette Hanson and sophomore Isabelle Christiansen headlined the Tiger performers as The University of Missouri Cross Country team finished eighth and 11th respectively at the 2022 Southeastern Conference Championships Friday morning in Oxford, Miss.

Overall, the Tiger men ended the 8k with 276 points, while the women totaled 219 in the 6k.

TOP TIGERS

Hanson, who has been the first Tiger across the line in each of his four entrants this season, ran a personal-best time of 23:43.19 to claim 18th.

Christiansen claimed 23rd (20:32.61) in the conference contest to lead the Missouri women. The sophomore paced the program in three regular-season races this year.

Senior Jacob Ridderhoff notched a 36th-place result with a time of 24:27.04. Ridderhoff was followed by sophomores Jack Warner in 53rd (24:49.02), Blake Morris in 58th (25:01.96) and freshman Drew Rogers in 75th (25:29.20).

Following Christiansen, junior Jenna Schwartz clocked in at 21:10.71 to finish 50th. While sophomore Allison Newman and senior Reilly Revord found the line 72nd (21:34.17) and 74th (21:36.24), respectively.

Alabama claimed both conference crowns on Friday. Arkansas, who entered as the reigning champions finished third overall in the men’s standings and second overall on the women’s side.

Parker Valby of Florida earned the top indivisual finish in the 6k with a time of 18:25.87. Alabama’s Victor Kiprop stood atop the podium in the men’s 8k with a mark of 22:38.94.
