Panthers finish the regular season with two home matches against Illinois Springfield and Lewis

Panthers finish the regular season with two home matches against Illinois Springfield and Lewis

The Panthers look to finish the season strong and gain good GLVC positioning with two matches against Illinois Springfield and Lewis. Both teams have already qualified for the GLVC tournament. Drury hosts both the Prairie Stars and Flyers, playing Illinois Springfield at 5 pm on Friday and then Lewis on Sunday at noon at Harrison Stadium.

Drury is coming off a loss to league leaders and #13 McKendree in Lebanon, Illinois. Illinois Springfield is coming off a 4-2 win over William Jewell in Liberty. Madison Grandys had 4 points on the night, providing the assist for two of the goals and scoring one of her own. Lewis, last time out, lost to Rockhurst in Kansas City 1-0. Illinois Springfield will travel to Bolivar to end their regular season to face Southwest Baptists after their match against Drury. Lewis will make their way down I-44 to Harrison Stadium after a Friday match against S&T.
Drury is led by Forwards Elsa Gonzalez and Tara Simon whom both have 4 goals and 1 assist. Goalkeeper Kaitlin Knetzke is fourth in the GLVC with 4 saves and has accumulated 9 shutouts on the year.

Illinois Springfield is led by midfielder Abby Dellamorte. Her 5 goals are tied for seventh in the conference, while her 12 points are tied for eighth. Forward Sierra Cenek is second on the team in points with 10 (4 goals and 2 assists). Forward Madison Grandys has the team and conference lead in assists with 5. Between the sticks for the Prairie Stars is Allison Mirimanian who has 47 saves and 7 shutouts on the year.

Lewis is led by forward Cameron Sengstock, whose 8 goals tie her for second in the conference and 18 points put her solely in second behind McKendree’s Anna Stiffler. Forward Cosa Bella Milazzo is the second-leading scorer for the Flyers with 4 goals and 1 assist. Forward Mariana Pinto leads the Flyers in assists with three. In goal has been Bekah Nielsen whose 54 saves are third-best in the GLVC.

Following the two games, the Panthers will wait for the GLVC to announce the schedule for the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament, with quarterfinals starting on Sunday, October 30th.
