Panthers win twice on Saturday to go 3-0 in Midwest Region Crossover Tournament

HAMMOND, Ind. – The Drury Panthers won twice and finished the Midwest Region Crossover Tournament 3-0 as they defeated Ursuline and Kentucky Wesleyan on Saturday in Hammond, Indiana.
 
The Panthers improved to 10-14, dropped Ursuline to 2-18 and Kentucky Wesleyan to 6-17.
 
Drury swept through their first match of the day defeating Ursuline 25-18, 25-14, and 25-19. The Panthers posted a .337 hitting percentage and served up 14 aces. Tayler Neal and Salma Lewis led Drury with eight kills each, while Chloe Rear added 18 assists and four aces. Juliana Squire had 12 digs and Addison Tauai had five service aces.
 
The Panthers finished the tournament winning in five sets over Kentucky Wesleyan. Drury rebounded from a 25-22 loss in the opening set to win the next two 25-8. The fifth set was tied 9-9 until DU took over and won the last six points to get the win.
 
Chloe Rear served up the final five points of the match and posted a triple-double with 33 assists, 14 kills, and 10 digs. Stormi Tadlock led the Panthers in kills with 17 and five block assists. Juliana Squire contributed 16 digs.
 
Drury’s three wins in the Crossover tournament was their 3-0 run in the event since 2018 and marks the third time in head coach Jenifer Bahner’s tenure they have gone undefeated in the tournament.
 
Drury plays again on Tuesday with a non-conference road game at Arkansas Tech. Game time is 6 pm in Russellville, Arkansas.
