DU men’s cross country finishes fourth at Hornet Harrier Invitational

Emporia, Kan.— The Drury men’s cross country finished fourth in the men’s 8000-kilometer race at the Hornet Harrier Invitational, hosted by Emporia St. on Friday. 

The Panthers brought a squad of runners to Emporia that do not usually make up the top pack but can help the squad push for a conference title. Out of a five-team field, the Panthers fought their way to a fourth-place finish with 105 points, beating out Crowder who finished with 106. Emporia St. won the race with 16 points.  

The Panthers had two top-20 finishers. Collin Emmert, a freshman out of Carl Junction led the way, finishing 12th with a time of 26:51.82. Tyler Adams, a senior from Stockton finished 16th with a time of 27:05.06. Nixa’s own Eros Sustaita came in 40th with a time of 30:09.47. Lewis Tucker, a sophomore from St. Charles was the fourth Panther to cross the line. This time in 43rd with a time of 30:30.38. Rounding out the top 5 was Ben Schmitt finishing in 46th. The junior from Avon Indiana came in with a time of 31:02.82.  

Drury’s teams are scheduled to compete again on Oct. 22 at the UAH invitational, hosted by Alabama-Huntsville.
