SPRINGFIELD, Ill.— The Drury Panthers are in fifth place among 13 teams after two rounds of play at the Midwest Regional Fall Tournament at Panther Creek Country Club in Springfield, Illinois on Monday.
The Panthers jumped four spots in the second 18 holes on Monday and are 12-over-par as a team. Missouri-St. Louis, ranked 13th nationally, shot nine-under-par as a team and leads the tournament by 13 strokes going into Tuesday’s third and final round. Maryville is in second place, while Missouri S&T is three-over-par in third. Drury trails McKendree by seven shots for fourth.
Drury senior Cooper Hess led the Panthers second-round charge and is tied for seventh at one-under-par in the field of 81 players. The Lebanon native shot a two-over-par 74 in the opening round, then returned in the afternoon to post a three-under-par 69. He is five shots off of the tournament lead.
Alex Wiseman is tied for 27th and is four-over-par. He was also under par in the second round, shooting 77 in the first round, but followed with a 71 in the second. Kal Kolar is tied for 35th at seven-over (151). Hunter Jowers and Tryn Titus are both tied for 40th at eight-over-par (152).
Jack Day, playing as an individual, is tied for 19th after posting a two-over-par 146.
Nick Hedburg from UMSL leads the tournament with a six-under-par 138. He holds a one-shot lead over Austin Fauser of Maryville.
The tournament concludes with the final 18 holes on Tuesday at 8 am.
