MSU Men Tied for Eighth After 36 Holes at SIUE

MADISON, Ill. — Missouri State’s men’s golf team is tied for eighth place after Monday’s opening two rounds of the 16-team SIUE Dolenc Invitational here.

The Bears posted rounds of 297 and 294 on the Gateway Golf Gold Links to sit 15 strokes behind tourney co-leaders Idaho (286-290–576) and Weber State (284-292–676). Bradley (586), Lindenwood (587), New Orleans (588), Southern Illinois (589) and UT Martin (590) round out the top seven with the Bears locked into the eighth spot aside host SIU Edwardsville and Murray State with scores of 591.

Individually, MSU’s Max Kreikemeier (69-73–142) is tied for fourth, just six strokes behind tourney leader Isaac Buerger of Weber State.

Missouri State’s Carter Le (73-73–146) is also firmly inside the top 20, currently tied for 15th place. Eric Schuessler (74-78–152) is tied for 58th, J.P. Lavalle (83-73–156) is tied for 77th, and Austin Gillund (78-80–158) is in 83rd place after 36 holes. MSU’s alternate Christian Rischer (75-81–156) is tied for 77th in the field of 96 individuals.

The tournament concludes Tuesday with the event’s final 18 holes on the par-71 layout in Madison.
