Rockhurst gets two first half goals in win at Drury

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.– Rockhurst handed Drury their first loss of the year, defeating the Panthers 2-0 at Harrison Stadium in Springfield on Sunday.

Drury fell to 5-1-3 and 2-1-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, while the Hawks won their fourth straight league game, improving to 4-0 in the GLVC and 5-1-2 overall.

The Hawks struck twice in the first half and got on the board in the 37th minute. Olivia Schwarzen blasted a shot into the upper right corner of the net from 20 yards away to give Rockhurst a 1-0 lead. It was the first goal Drury has allowed all year and ended Drury goalkeeper Kaitlin Knetzke’s streak of 756 minutes.

The Hawks scored again just before halftime as Schwarzen picked up an assist on a corner kick that Lizzo Rosenthal put into the net on a header in the 41st minute.

Rockhurst outshot Drury 8-6. Kourtney Tucker had two shots to lead the Panthers.

Drury is idle until Oct. 2, when they travel to Rolla to take on Missouri S&T.
