Kaitlin Knetzke named GLVC Defensive Player of the Week for a second time in 2022

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— Drury goalkeeper Kaitlin Knetzke was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week for women’s soccer for her two performances during the week of Sept. 12-18. It marks the second time she won the league’s weekly award this season.
 
Knetzke recorded two shutouts last week as the Panthers went 1-0-1. The Ozark native and product of Springfield Catholic extended her shutout streak to start the season to seven games and 630 minutes. Last year, Knetzke was the national co-leader in NCAA-II women’s soccer recording 14 clean sheets.
 
Friday, she made five saves in a 3-0 win at William Jewell, then was credited with four stops in a 0-0 tie against Truman State on Sunday afternoon. Knetzke has saves on all 28 shots on goal she’s faced so far this season.
 
The award is Knetzke’s third weekly honor of her career. In addition to Aug. 29 of this season, she won the award on on Sept. 6, 2021.
 
The Panthers play two games next weekend as they travel to Southwest Baptist for a 5 pm game in Bolivar, then are back home on Sunday to host Rockhurst at noon.
