Drury gets second half goal to tie William Jewell

LIBERTY, Mo. – The Drury Panthers got a second-half goal to pull even with William Jewell and pick up a tie on the road in a 1-1 draw on Friday night in Liberty, Missouri.
 
Drury went to 3-1-2 and 1-0-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, while the Cardinals went to 0-1-1 overall and in league play.
 
William Jewell led 1-0 at halftime after a goal in the 25th minute by Carson Lee. Both teams had six shots in the first half.

The Panthers evened the game in the 58th minute when Jacob Schmidt converted a penalty kick and tied the game at 1-1. The goal was Schmidt’s second of the year. The game stayed deadlocked as both teams had 13 shots. Drury goalkeeper Tyler Frolick had seven saves, while William Jewell’s keeper, Jose Arellano, had five stops.
 
The Panthers are back at home on Sunday when they host Truman State for a 2:30 pm game at Harrison Stadium / Curry Sports Complex.
