DU volleyball earns AVCA Team Academic Award

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— The Drury volleyball team earned a US Marine Corps / American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Academic Award for their work in the classroom in 2021-22.

The award, initiated in the 1992–93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale.

Earlier this summer, Drury’s volleyball also picked up a Team Academic Award with their 3.50 team GPA.

The Panthers open the 2022 season Aug. 26-27 in the St. Cloud/Concordia Invitational in Minnesota. Their home schedule starts with the Drury/SBU Invitational Sept. 2-3 in the O’Reilly Family Event Center.

In 2021, Drury went 20-8, 10-8 in the GLVC, finished third in the West Division and tied for seventh overall. The Panthers return nine letter winners from last year’s team, including all-conference selection Chloe Rear. Head coach Jenifer Bahner-Hill will enter her ninth season leading the Panthers and ranks second in program history in career wins.
