Drury Dozen- the top 12 moment’s of ’21-22: #3 – Katie McCune with best finish in team history at NCAA-II Outdoor Track Championships

The Drury Dozen is an annual list of our favorite moments of the year from Drury Athletics. The list is not necessarily the most significant events but the special games and moments we will always associate with 2021-22.
We’ll provide honorable mention selections later in the countdown, but, for now, here is our 10th entry from 2021-22:
#3- Katie McCune with best finish in team history at NCAA-II Outdoor Track Championships
May 28, 2022 – Allendale, Mich.
She makes our top 12 list for the second time. And the sisters, Katie and Claire McCune had moments that comprised one-third of the Drury Dozen this year, but that’s fitting as the two made history through their historic careers as Panthers and capped their final season at DU with even more break-throughs.
Both Katie and Claire McCune reached the NCAA-II National Outdoor Track & Championships as did Josie McClellan in the javelin, marking the first time ever Drury has sent multiple student-athletes to that event.
Katie McCune qualified for the finals in the 800 meter run, then finished fifth in the finals to become the program’s first-ever All-American in the sport. It was also the best finish ever for a Drury track & field athlete ever at nationals.
