Ostrowski to compete for Poland in this year’s European Championships

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— Drury men’s swimmer Karol Ostrowski was named to the Polish Federation’s delegation to the 2022 European Swimming & Diving Championships to be held later this summer. Ostrowski, who completed his sophomore season for the Panthers in 2021-22, qualified for the European Championships in the 50 Freestyle, the 100 Freestyle, and the 50  Butterfly.

At Drury last spring, he won two NCAA-II National Championships last spring taking first in the 100 Free and 200 Free. He was also on Drury’s 400 Free Relay team that was the national runner-up, and he finished second in the nation in the 100 Backstroke and the 50 Free. As a freshman in 2021, Ostrowski won five NCAA-II national championships and set a Division II meet record in the 100 Free.

The native of Strachocin, Poland, is no stranger to international competition. He represented his country in the Tokyo Summer Olympics in 2021 on Poland’s 400 Free Relay team, and the squad narrowly missed the finals finishing sixth in their heat, 11th overall, and the team was only 0.75 seconds from qualifying for the finals. At Poland’s national championship meet last year, Ostrowski won the 100 Free and posted a “B” Olympic qualifying time.

This year’s European Swimming & Diving Championships are August 11-21 in Rome, Italy.
