53 Drury student-athletes earn GLVC Council of Presidents’ Academic Excellence Awards

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— Drury University had 53 student-athletes earn a Council of Presidents’ Academic Excellence Award from the Great Lakes Valley Conference for their work in the classroom during their collegiate career.
 
The GLVC Council of Presidents’ Academic Excellence Award recipients exemplifies the outstanding student-athletes in the conference. Each honoree has exhausted their eligibility in the intercollegiate sport in which they participated and maintained at least a 3.5 grade point average throughout their academic career.
 
In addition, to be eligible for the award, the student-athlete must have competed in the GLVC for a minimum of two years and completed 96 credit hours.
 
17 different Drury sports competing in the GLVC had student-athletes on the list. Drury’s baseball team featured nine, while the women’s swimming & diving team had eight make the list.
 
Two Drury student-athletes graduated with a 4.0 grade point average. Graham Wells from swimming & diving and a Finance major, and Colten Johnson, a track & field athlete majoring in Management, both posted 4.0 GPA’s for their career.
 
Drury Athletics has featured 248 Academic Excellence Award winners in the last eight years.
 
The GLVC is announcing its 2021-22 academic awards throughout the week:
Mon., June 20: Team Academic awards
Tue., June 21: Drury with 275 named Academic All-GLVC  
Wed., June 22: 36 DU student-athletes named Brother Gaffney Distinguished Scholars
